Angela is a Registered Social Worker working with young adults (18+). She obtained her Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work from Carleton University and also has a 3-year diploma in Behavioural Science. Angela has worked with kiddos on the Autism spectrum, with individuals with an acquired brain injury, with seniors who faced challenges with their mental health, worked as part of a family health team doing counselling, done neurofeedback mixed with counselling, and currently also works with an addictions agency in the Ottawa valley doing trauma work and counselling.
Angela feels that her work could be described as having conversations with people to help them understand themselves better and learn why they think, feel, and behave the way they do. Angela feels strongly that most of us did not get a chance to learn about how to create and maintain good mental health for ourselves. Angela loves to have conversations with people about how they think, feel, and behave in this world and how this can at times help and at others hinder our mental health. Angela also loves to talk with people about how their bodies respond to stress and how we can use this information to help us in caring for ourselves.
In the therapy room with Angela there has been joy and laughter, sadness and tears, new insights and perspectives, and a chance for people to see themselves in a different light. Clients have described Angela as a great listener, warm, compassionate, and insightful. Clients have also said that a session with Angela feels like being with an old friend that you can tell anything to, not feel judged, and instead feel safe and protected. Angela loves working with people long-term and at a pace that does not feel hurried or rushed.
